I'm currently working on common ground. In this show I have to share the same rig as two other shows and ensure that it works for mine. We were given quite a good kit list having 4 Martin Mac Vipers, 3 Clay-Paky Mini-B's and other moving lights which meant that this task was attainable. As my show was the odd one out being set in a warmer environment in comparison to the two shows that were both in very cold environments I had to make some compromises in regards to what gels were used in the generic fixtures. An example of this is some of the generic fixtures have Lee 161 which can only be used in a few of my scenes.
For this show I was the lighting designer / operator. As the Lighting Designer it was my job to liaise with the director to understand what type of atmosphere and feeling they are trying to produce in each piece. As the Lighting Operator it was my responsibility to listen to the DSM and press go when cued too. I also had to busk the haze and smoke machine to ensure that the stage kept to the atmosphere needed throughout the dances.
For this show I designed the lighting and programmed it using the ETC Nomad software. I then operated the show for two nights. I was given a colour pallet for each scene and why the director thought that that colour fit well with the scene. Some of their choices didn't really work with some of the scenes so after some discussion they were changed.
For this show I worked with the director to design the lighting. I then operated the show for two nights. In this show I was only given 18 par-cans and 8 pixel pars to use, this made it very difficult, I decided to use the pixel pars facing the audience to show colours and use them to do more effect lighting. I then used the par-cans to do front and back light.
